I'm not dead!

...I just stopped making minis over 6 months ago.

Less than a week after my last post I went on my umpteenth dating site blind date. This one was different. I just moved in with him last month. I'm absurdly happy and amazed that I have something like this in my life.

He's not *exactly* the reason I stopped making minis. I used to make them at work because my job is beyond dull. Then I started doing Weight Watchers again. I lost over 40lbs (I gained a bit back during the holidays, but it's coming off again nicely), but it's changed my habits at work. I eat less, but more often, so having clay on my hands when I can't leave the office to wash them...

I think there's some truth to the thought that it's easier (or maybe more fulfilling) to be creative when you're unhappy. That's been the pattern in my life anyway. Still, I do miss making minis. Maybe in this new year...but for now there's a (bad, but cute) cat being SUPER annoying to get my attention.

If it's not one thing...

I want so badly to be making new stuff, but life keeps getting in my way. I took the winter off from clay to spare my fingers as much cracking and bleeding as possible. I did some microcrochet, but I've had a long string of colds, so it's been slow going with that. Now just as I'm about to get back to the clay...I have a cut on my index finger, from a broken pickle jar, so I have to wait...and I can't hold a crochet hook comfortably either! I'm pining for minis so strongly right now! My sister's birthday present will be the next thing I post....when I finish it. Erg.

For now... here's most of a tiny bear I made a few weeks ago. I've finished it since (and made it a scarf), but I don't have photos yet. Ignore the phone blurriness (no macro) and the nasty orange walls of the office. I miss when they were beige! I swear it makes my clay color mixing go weird sometimes.

Another non-update

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or anything, just haven't been feeling great. You know you're sick when crochet is exhausting. The antibiotics will be done by this time tomorrow and I should be feeling better in a few days. As for clay minis... I'm full of ideas, but crochet is more suitable lately. In the spring, maybe sooner, I'll be back to clay again.

Getting sidetracked!

I took an unexpected hiatus from clay and just when I was about to pick it up, another branch of minis reached out and grabbed me! I hadn't done microcrochet in about 15 years (when I was in middle school), but I couldn't pass up a pack of tiny hooks for just a couple bucks.

Here's my practice so far. It's sewing thread with a 10 hook.

Hmm...

Do I skip my xmas and Chanukkah stuff that I never really finished or do I roll it all into a "winter party" theme?

Hope everyone had holidays as full of family, food, and cheer as mine! Happy New Year!

There probably won't be anything new posted here before then, but there will be new stuff relatively soon.

Quick note

First off, I want to thank my followers. I haven't posted much lately, but I absolutely appreciate all of you. : )

There are updates coming soon, but I'm recovering from another root canal. This is the third since early Sept, but hopefully the last. Teefs! How I hate them!

Life...

So the computer is back, but now the car is in the shop. The repairs will be almost half of its Blue Book. I also have another toothache, luckily not anywhere near as bad as the one a few months back.

I'm in the least xmasy mood EVER! Sorry for the whine. I am working on some stuff, but it has been kinda backburnered and it's not xmas stuff...you'll see. It should be done in a couple of days.

The whole gang!

The Jack O'Lanterns are done! I had some hassles and issues, but overall... I like them. I'll be putting them up on Etsy. I'm still working on the store, but I'm kinda limited, since I'm still using my mother's computer.

My computer needs a new motherboard. It could be a few weeks until it's working again. The timing is *perfect* because I was just about to really launch my Etsy page with a bunch of Halloween stuff. Now I have to visit my mother and use her computer...so I'm not sure if I'll get the Etsy thing going in time for Halloween. :(

Half-Done

I usually don't post my work when it's still this rough... but I really like how this is turning out. The tool marks still need smoothing and it needs a little more shaping (and a shiny finish), but... it's coming along.
